Durch Umsetzung von 1.2‐Glykolen mit Orthoameisensäure‐trialkylestern in Gegenwart katalytischer Mengen konz. Schwefelsäure wurde eine Reihe von 2‐Alkoxy‐1.3‐dioxolanen dargestellt, in denen weiterhin durch Umsetzung mit prim. Alkoholen unter denselben Versuchsbedingungen die 2‐Alkoxygruppe ausgetauscht werden konnte. 1.3‐Glykole führten zur Bildung von 2‐Alkoxy‐1.3‐dioxanen, Brenzcatechin zu 2‐Alkoxy‐4.5‐benzo‐1.3‐dioxolan.
Durch Einwirkung von Acylhalogeniden und Acetanhydrid auf 2‐Äthoxy‐1.3‐dioxolan entstehen unter Aufspaltung des Dioxolan‐Ringes β‐substituierte Ameisensäure‐äthylester. Mit Acetylcyanid bleibt diese Reaktion aus. – Auch das von BAKER und SHANON durch Chlorierung von 1.3‐Dioxolan erhaltene Produkt ist nicht 2‐Chlor‐1.3‐dioxolan, sondern der isomere Ameisensäure‐[β‐chlor‐äthylester].
Die Darstellung verszhiedener 2-Alkoxymethyl-A2-imidazoline und -Az-tetrahydropyrimidine aus den entsprechenden Alkoxyacetaten und Alkoxyacetarniden sowie aus Dia-halogenathern wird beschrieben.Die 2-substituierten A2-Imidazoline haben rnit verschiedenen 2-Arylmethyl-Derivaten einen festen Platz in der Reihe der Syrnpathikomimetika erlangt.
