En este artículo se muestra un trabajo de campo realizado en el IES Moixent de Valencia durante el curso 2009-2010, con diez alumnos de cuarto de la Enseñanza Secundaria Obligatoria (ESO), en la asignatura de Matemáticas. Enéste se establece cómo se llevó a cabo la estimación de la altura del Campanario del pueblo, mediante la utilización de cuatro métodos matemáticos distintos. En primer lugar, se comenta cómo surgió este trabajo de campo y a continuación se describe de forma breve en que consisten cada uno de los métodos que se han utilizado durante el mismo. Posteriormente, se presentan: la metodolodía aplicada, los contenidos trabajados y los objetivos que se quieren alcanzar con esta actividad. Finalizando con una muestra de los resultados obtenidos y los comentarios realizados por los alumnos.In this paper we present an activity realized at IES Moixent in Valencia during the 2009-2010 academic year by ten students of the fourth course of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) in the subject of Mathematics. The activity consisted of estimating the height of the bell tower of the town of Moixent using four different mathematical methods. First, we explain the reasons drove us to organize this activity and then we briefly describe the methods used. We also present the methodology, the contents and the objectives to be achieved with this activity. Finally an sample of the results and comments produced by students is given.
