En un contexto de aumento del costo de la vida y estancamiento salarial, el endeudamiento de los hogares chilenos se ha incrementado a niveles sin precedentes. En este marco, el artículo explora los arreglos económicos de las parejas de adultos jóvenes y profesionales ante la alta presión económica provocada por las deudas. Entendemos que en las relaciones de pareja se construyen, discuten y negocian la adquisición, los usos y estrategias de pago de deudas. Para ello, a partir del análisis de 34 entrevistas semiestructuradas a parejas jóvenes y deudoras, exploramos tres tipos de negociaciones: (i) las que buscan congeniar las herencias o los aprendizajes financieros previos; (ii) las estrategias financieras de resistencia que las parejas asumen para poder sostenerse económicamente; (iii) los ajustes a los proyectos futuros en función de la proyección de pago de sus compromisos asumidos.

Resumen. En este artículo se propone analizar el caso del sistema de créditos estudiantiles de la Corfo desde una perspectiva de las teorías de la "gubernamentalidad". Utilizando los datos empíricos de una encuesta y de una serie de entrevistas realizadas por la autora, nuestro argumento plantea que esta modalidad de crédito favorece un proceso de "subjetivización" de los jóvenes deudores a través de tres elementos: en primer lugar, por los enclaves bancarios que este modelo de sistema de crédito crea para resguardar los riesgos financieros de transformar a "sujetos pobres" en "sujetos financieros". En segundo lugar, por las consecuencias de sumisión a un endeudamiento tentacular, al exigir anualmente avales o codeudores solidarios y, en tercer lugar, por los altos costos económicos y personales que para los deudores implica responder a sus compromisos financieros mes tras mes.
