RESUMO:O Estado do Mato Grosso se destaca no cenário internacional como um importante pólo agrícola, especialmente na produção de grãos. Tal atividade econômica é fortemente dependente da água para irrigação, visando à melhoria de produtividade. A partir de 2016, houve uma intensificação do uso da água subterrânea para irrigação de monoculturas, especialmente em decorrência de algumas regiões do Estado apresentarem indisponibilidade hídrica superficial. Essa pressão na água subterrânea traz à tona um importante fator, que é a ausência de estudos para apoiar a tomada de decisão na gestão destas águas. Neste contexto, é evidente a necessidade de investimentos na gestão, inclusive financeiros, o que coloca em foco a cobrança pelo uso da água. Em face disto, este trabalho propõe uma análise do preço da água e o seu impacto na rentabilidade do irrigante do Sistema Aquífero Parecis e do potencial arrecadador da cobrança, na ótica de um dos pilares para sustentabilidade financeira do Sistema de Recursos Hídricos. As análises mostraram que os modelos de cobrança, nas condições simuladas, possuem potencial de financiamento limitado. No entanto, a cobrança é capaz financiar ações em benefício da gestão de recursos hídricos, mesmo com limitações.
