El presente estudio se realizó con el fin de determinar la prevalencia de maloclusiones en niños de 9 a 13 años de edad de la escuela fiscal “Diego Abad de Cepeda”, perteneciente al Distrito Metropolitano de Quito. La población muestral fueron 150 niños, comprendidos por 72 hombres y 78 mujeres en los rangos de edades establecidos; en los cuales se analizó bajo el método de observación: la clase molar de Angle, clase canina, medidas de overjet-overbite, y la existencia de mordida cruzada posterior. Se encontró que la clase I molar de Angle y la clase I canina fueron las maloclusiones con mayor prevalencia, 68% y 68% respectivamente. El overjet y overbite se encontró en su mayoría, valores normales (Promedio: 2.44mm y 2.39mm). Existió el 2% de mordidas cruzadas posteriores. Los resultados obtenidos en este estudio ayudan a crear un perfil de una población ecuatoriana con relación a las maloclusiones.
