Le département du Finistère est le siège depuis les années 1970 de plusieurs expérimentations novatrices d'analyses spatiales des espaces mésolithiques, réalisées notamment sous la houlette de Pierre Gouletquer. Les approches des habitats matérialisés seulement par des vestiges répandus sur le sol sont en général mal pensés, lorsque les démarches des archéologues ne visent qu'à créer des boîtes chrono-culturelles, alors que chacune de ces pièces porte ses propres coordonnées dans l'espace et le temps. Cet article apporte une nouvelle modalité de connaissance de ces sites de surface, avec une prospection de longue durée réalisée au GPS. L'article établit un bilan topographique du site de Croas Ar Burzhud, sur la commune de Bodilis en Finistère. D'une surface de 1,7 hectare, il est installé sur le versant nord d'un petit thalweg au sommet d'un plateau dominant l'Elorn. Parmi les 3 942 pièces lithiques recueillies (dont 2 267 cotées au GPS), le silex reste la roche la plus taillée. D'autres roches comme le microquartzite de la Forest-Landerneau, le quartz, le grès lustré et le phtanite ont aussi été travaillés. Une trentaine d'armatures a été retrouvée lors des prospections. Elles témoignent d'une certaine hétérogénéité, tant dans leurs formes que dans leur élaboration, qui nous signalent d'emblée plusieurs objectifs de débitage, mais aussi plusieurs occupations et par conséquent, plusieurs périodes chronologiques. Cependant, c'est la composante du premier Mésolithique qui est largement dominante, notamment celle du groupe de Bertheaume (8200-7500 avant notre ère). L'analyse spatiale des pièces lithiques, permet d'identifier trois secteurs d'un point de vue chrono-culturel. La prospection menée par P. Picart durant six années à Croas ar Burzhud ouvre donc des possibilités inédites pour l'archéologie préhistorique en Bretagne, que l'on souhaite voir renouveler dans les années à venir.
