Epífitas vasculares são plantas que se desenvolvem sobre outras espécies vegetais e são consideradas bioindicadoras de qualidade ambiental. O presente estudo objetivou realizar um levantamento de epífitas na Estação Ecológica Serra das Araras, localizada no bioma Cerrado em uma área de transição com Amazônia e Pantanal, avaliando o potencial das espécies encontradas como bioindicadoras de umidade. Foram dispostos três transectos, paralelos ao córrego Camarinha e com proximidade do córrego Miranda, ambos inseridos na Bacia do Alto Paraguai, com dez parcelas em cada, totalizando 30 parcelas de 10 x 3 metros. Foi realizada a análise de variância (kuskall-wallis) da abundância entre os transectos, análise de regressão linear com os dados de abundância e riqueza em função da distância dos corpos d’água e análise de densidade de Kernel. Foram registradas seis espécies de epífitas, com destaque para Phlebodium decumanum (Willd.) J.Sm. e Vanilla sp., sendo que 19,6% dos 143 forófitos amostrados foram confirmados com presença de epífitas e, destes, 27 são Attalea speciosa Mart. ex Spreng. O transecto mais próximo dos corpos d’água apresentou abundância com diferença significativa (p = 0,004) do transecto três. Das 30 parcelas amostradas, 15 tiveram a presença de espécies epifíticas e a análise de regressão apontou diminuição significativa para riqueza (p = 0,0003, R-ajustado = 0,372) e abundância (p = 0,042 R-ajustado = 0,139) em função da distância dos córregos, o que foi ao encontro do observado na análise de densidade, que apresentou maior concentração próximo dos cursos de água. O histórico de antropização da área pode ter acondicionado uma baixa riqueza de epífitas e a ocorrência dessas espécies está correlacionada com a do forófito de Attalea speciosa estabelecidos preferencialmente em áreas com presença de umidade, podendo, portanto, as epífitas serem bioindicadoras dessa condição ambiental na região.
