Classical works dealing with the possibility of mother-child incompatibility with regard to basic ABO blood groups give contradictory conclusions. Bioreproductive and population-genetic indicators have been studied in a sample of live births and in two pregnancy samples with different "a priori" and "a posteriori" risk assessment. The analysis points out that ABO blood groups can influence fertility of different parental pairs, and consequently--assessment of the individual pregnancy risk.
During the second half of the previous century, biologists were continuously searching for the answers to the questions about the creation of genetically identical individuals. From the very first ideas (Spemann, 1938) and the early reports on the attempts and successes in the reproductive cloning (Briggs and King, 1952; Stewart et al., 1958) to the recent news about the first cloned baby birth (published informally at the end of 2002), that topic gathered a significant scientific and non-scientific attention. All assertions about human cloning resounded as a sensation and made a particular public unrest, even though it was in fact an operation based on the existence of already well known scientific postulations, theories and experimental results. In spite of whether human individuals were cloned or not (many scientists expressed serious reserves regarding the above mentioned news), a wider public interest in cloning, its importance and procedures and a new technology practical possibilities increased significantly.
NOTES AND COMMENTS 309Thus, the elements responsible for variation in recombination frequencies segregate like genes and are indeed separable from the regions whose recombination they affect. We conclude that the elements are genes or gene systems.4. SUMMARY 1. Frequencies of recombination between the component loci of the A and B incompatibility factors were determined for two monokaryotic strains and seven of their progeny after crossing to a common tester strain.2. The tendencies for high and low recombination within each incompatibility factor are separable from the factors '.iemselves and segregate like genes.3. The elements controlling recombination within the A and B factors segregate independently.
SAŽETAKBiodiverzitet (biodiversity = biological + diversity, biološka različitost, raznovrsnost i raznolikost živih bića) je pojam koju se odnosi na najupadljiviju opštu odliku svih organizama -njihovu promjenljivost, na svim nivoima varijacije (individue, vrste, zajednice). Riječ i pojam su ušli u širu upotrebu tokom posljednjih decenija prošlog stoljeća.Prema pouzdanim podacima, postojeći biodiverzitet na planeti ugrožen je prije svega raznim posljedicama ekspanzije čovjekovih djelatnosti. Naučni pokazatelji i naučne metode praćenja promjena u biodiverzitetu otkrivaju da se broj organskih vrsta danas smanjuje 1000 do 10 000 puta brže u odnosu na nekadašnje stope izumiranja. U vezi s tim, savremena nauka stavlja u središte svoje pažnje globalnu pojavu ugroženosti biodiverziteta, otkrivajući činjenice i zakonitosti nestajanja mnogih oblika života. Sistematika i taksonomija, znanje o grupisanju i klasifikaciji organizama, neophodna su osnova za objektivan pristup istraživanju biološke raznolikosti, kao i ugroženosti biodiverziteta.Biodiverzitet postaje jedno od najaktuelnijih pitanja današnjice, što je došlo do izražaja i u nizu međunarodnih dokumenata i akcija.
