Proactive leadership and investment are the key factors that determine a company's potential to become a digital organization. Based on the analysis of relevant literature, we will introduce a four-stage model. The companies are progressing through stalling, initiating, engaging and self-reinforcement stage. The main research question is: How to assess an organization's readiness for digital transformation? The main aim of this study is to propose the digital strategy based on four critical dimensions such as digital-first mindset, digital practices, empowered talent and data access and collaboration tools. The questionnaire comprised 32 questions to assess organization's position across aforementioned dimensions. Regarding different characteristics of national culture, the construct validity of research methodology developed in one society will be investigated for a Serbian sample. The sample consisted of 30 managers in one company. The research findings revealed possible practical implementation of an adapted questionnaire used by MIT Centre for Digital Business and Capgemini Consulting. The findings add to the existing literature on digital strategies in cross-cultural organizational contexts. The research findings revealed that an analyzed company redesigned organization as well as investment significantly in technology. The practical implementation and study limitation are suggested too.
Measuring intellectual capital contributes to organizational success and brings managerial, cultural and organizational changes. In analyzing the relevant literature on intellectual capital (IC), it emerges that the benefits of IC measuring and reporting have been linked to value creation. In order to provide a deeper understanding of the character and role of IC and adequate IC indicators, the main aim of this study is to propose a strategic model for measuring intellectual capital in Serbian industrial enterprises. The research findings revealed a lack of both employee innovativeness and permanent competence development of top managers and employees, which may be a significant problem in the potential growth of Serbian industry. The factor analysis showed that the proposed questionnaire (based on relevant scorecard methods) is adequate for investigating the phenomena of intellectual capital in industrial enterprises in Serbia
The main purpose of our research is to construct and apply a framework for strategic choice, which is essential for successful recovery. Based on analysis of relevant literature and empirical studies of recovery, we proposed four different recovery strategies such as management changes, financial restructuring, internal or external strategies. We have identified and included the following seven factors in analytical framework: causes of crisis, the phase of crisis, available resources, organizational life cycle, competitive position, industrial level, and stakeholder influences in organizational survival, especially banks and other creditors. Furthermore, we examined the application of this framework to six case studies of enterprises in Serbia.
This paper examines the issues of change management in merger and acquisitions (M&As) using the mixed method research approach. The research setting consisted of a foreign bank that operates in Serbia. The main aim of this study is to examine willingness for change in bank M&A. The qualitative data about the bank were sourced from publicly available information about the bank. The standardized questionnaire is used to assess bank's willingness for change. Based on managers structure, the representative sample of middle managers has been interviewed in this study. The research findings revealed possible practical implementation of the questionnaire in the Serbian banking sector. The results revealed that changes in bank should be led top down. The findings add to the existing literature on success factors in cross-border mergers and acquisitions. The study limitation are suggested.
The main purpose of this study was to assess the impact of key influencing factors on four different recovery strategies such as management changes, financial restructuring, internal and external strategies. The research sample comprised 48 mature companies in Serbia. The Empirical results show that top management would select financial restructuring if inadequate financial control and policy caused acute crisis in mature company, which had medium competitive position in mature industry. The managers in all observed companies implemented internal strategies, especially divestment, regardless the key influencing factors. If competitive weakness caused crisis in a company with medium competitive position, top management would select external strategies.

The main aim of this study is to access possibilities of organic production of lavender in Serbia. As a result that 1999 and 2020 have been dubbed the "Year of Lavender" in the US, researchers and practitioners focused various aspects lavender production and cultivation. Lavender is an aromatic-medicinal plant, cultivated in Mediterranean region. The plants have used twofold: as an essential oil as well as a flower. In this study, the authors use a comparative analysis and feasibility study as research methods. The results of comparative analysis revealed that the main countries in organic production of lavender were Bulgaria, France, China, Ukraine, Spain and Morocco. Also, the feasibility study in Serbia showed positive effect on organic lavender production in Serbia. This can be the case study for organic production of lavender to other farmers in Serbia. The limitations and future research agenda will be presented, too.
Energy security may be defined, generally, as the availability of clean energy sources at affordable prices. If a country or region does not have its own sources of energy in the necessary extent, their energy security is in a long-term threat. To this point, countries seek to achieve diversification of energy sources and transport routes. This is one of the reasons for launching new energy projects in Europe and Asia; the other is an attempt by Russia to consolidate its dominant position on the part of the international energy market; the third factor is the oil transnational corporations. Russia is the dominant natural trading partner and Europe’s energy supplier. Problems with the transit of natural gas and oil from Russia to Europe, which directly threaten its energy security, were the reason to launch the new energy projects
