La evaluación del deterioro de las vías en Colombia se realiza por medio de inventarios manuales e inspecciones visuales. Los métodos de evaluación del estado de las vías adoptados por el INVIAS (Instituto Nacional de Vías) son VIZIR (Visión Inspection de Zones et Itinéraires Á Risque) y PCI (Paviment Condition Index). Estos determinan la gravedad de daño en pavimento flexible y rígido; sin embargo, pueden ser tediosos, subjetivos y requieren de la experiencia de un evaluador, lo que evidencia la necesidad de desarrollar metodologías de evaluación del estado de las vías. Este documento presenta una metodología para la evaluación de los deterioros presentes en pavimento flexible usando técnicas de fotogrametría terrestre y redes neuronales que está compuesta por seis etapas: i. Captura de las imágenes, ii. Preprocesamiento de las imágenes, iii. Segmentación mediante técnicas de detección de bordes, iv. Extracción de las características, v. Clasificación utilizando redes neuronales, y vi. Evaluación del área de afectación del deterioro. La metodología se evaluó con imágenes reales de pavimento con tres tipos de deterioro: grieta longitudinal, piel de cocodrilo y bache. Como clasificador se utilizó una red neuronal multicapa con configuración (12 12 3), entrenada utilizando el algoritmo Levenberg Marquardt de retropropagación. Se obtuvo una exactitud del 96 % en el clasificador, una sensibilidad de 93.33 % y una índice kappa de 0.936. Esta metodología es la base para la creación de un sistema automatizado de evaluación del deterioro presente en las vías, el cual puede contribuir en la reducción en tiempo y costo en los planes de gestión de mantenimiento de la infraestructura vial.
En los últimos años, uno de los principales problemas en Colombia es la contaminación ambiental debido al crecimiento de la población y la industrialización. La contaminación afecta a las grandes ciudades, perjudicando el medio ambiente y la salud humana. Es por ello que se presenta una metodología para el análisis de la contaminación ambiental en Medellín, usando técnicas de percepción remota, imágenes Landsat 7 y 8 y variables de calidad del aire. La metodología está compuesta por cuatro etapas: i. Preprocesamiento de imágenes, ii. Procesamiento de imágenes, cálculo de los índices de temperatura de la superficie (TS), índice de vegetación normalizado (NDVI), índice de vegetación ajustado al suelo transformado (TSAVI), índice de diferencia normalizada del agua (NDWI) y el índice normalizado del suelo (NSI), iii. Interpolación de variables de calidad del aire, Material Particulado (PM10), Material Particulado (PM2.5), Dióxido de Nitrógeno (NO2) y Ozono (O3); y, iv. Análisis de componentes principales. A partir de las técnicas aplicadas combinadas con la estimación del primer componente principal, el cual contenía el 90 % de variación de la información, se obtuvo un mapa de calidad ambiental que permitió identificar que los focos de contaminación se presentan en sectores con poca cobertura de vegetación, gran cantidad de construcciones y gran flujo vehicular. Por otro lado, las zonas con calidad de aire bueno son sectores que presentan una mayor cobertura de vegetación, por lo general ubicados en los extremos de la ciudad y de estrato socioeconómico 4, 5 y 6. Este mapa puede ser insumo en la oportuna toma de decisiones en cuanto a la planificación urbana, ya que permite la pronta intervención en las zonas donde la calidad ambiental es deficiente.
En los procesos de mantenimiento y rehabilitación de vías, es importante el desarrollo de procedimientos que contribuyan a la evaluación de la condición del pavimento. Los métodos de inspección de la superficie de pavimento que emplean imágenes capturan información permitiendo un análisis cuantitativo. Este documento presenta una metodología para la detección de grietas en el pavimento, mediante la aplicación de técnicas de procesamientos de imágenes y redes neuronales artificiales; está dividido en cuatro etapas: 1. Adquisición de las imágenes, 2. Procesamiento de imágenes, iii. Extracción de características y iv. Clasificación utilizando RNA. La metodología se aplicó para la detección de los deterioros: grieta longitudinal, bache y piel de cocodrilo. La clasificación se realizó mediante una red neuronal MLP con configuración (12 14 3), la cual obtuvo una exactitud de 95,56% y una precisión de 94,44%. La metodología propuesta puede ser útil para las organizaciones gubernamentales en la evaluación de la malla vial.
