Introducción: actualmente las dietas poco saludables ocasionan problemas de salud entre la población. Por lo tanto, es necesario aplicar un adecuado habito alimentario para una vida saludable y así reducir el riesgo de enfermedades a futuro.Objetivo: analizar los hábitos y conocimientos alimentarios de los adolescentes que se encuentran en un rango de edad de 14 a 17 años, identificando los factores de riesgo que pueden afectar la salud y el bienestar de la población estudiada. Método: se aplicó una metodología de enfoque cuantitativo con alcance descriptivo. Se aplicó un el cuestionario dietético sobre hábitos alimentarios, conducta alimentaria y conocimientos nutricionales. Resultados: Al analizar la muestra, se identificaron los factores de riesgo que pueden afectar la salud nutricional de la población estudiada, donde la mayor cantidad de estudiantes posee nociones acerca de estas prácticas. La mayoría poseen conocimientos confiables acerca de frecuencia en el consumo de alimentos y su variedad. Sin embargo, las dimensiones que evidenciaron una fiabilidad menor, correspondieron con los conocimientos alimentarios en los adolescentes.Conclusiones: Los resultados obtenidos en la presente investigación, permiten concluir que los adolescentes que conformaron la muestra de esta investigación poseen conocimientos confiables acerca de las variables autoeficacia, frecuencia en el consumo de alimentos, hábitos de alimentación, conocimiento de nutrición y seguridad alimentaria y comportamiento en prácticas de higiene, lo que indica que la mayor cantidad de estudiantes posee nociones acerca de estas prácticas, las cuales pueden servirle de protección.
