RESUMO INTRODUÇÃO:O objetivo desta pesquisa foi verificar se as empresas orientam os trabalhadores expostos ao ruído ocupacional (83 a 102 dB) quanto ao uso correto e ao manuseio adequado dos protetores auditivos. MÉTODOS: Fizeram parte do estudo 38 indivíduos, de 20 a 52 anos de idade, 30 do gênero masculino e 8 do gênero feminino, de uma fábrica de plásticos. Os sujeitos foram submetidos à avaliação através de questionário aplicado no próprio ambiente de trabalho, com o uso do protetor auricular de inserção e concha, já que estavam expostos ao nível de pressão sonora acima do nível de ação (80 dB). RESULTADOS: Pôde-se observar que a fábrica realiza a disponibilização adequada, quanto a conforto, uso, manuseio, orientação e avaliação das medidas adotadas sobre os Equipamentos de Proteção Individual, garantindo-se as condições de proteção originalmente estabelecidas pelos fabricantes. No entanto, deixa a desejar nas orientações em relação à higienização e manutenção do mesmo. ANÁLISE E DISCUÇÃO O profissional deve orientá-lo individualmente sobre o uso correto, manutenção e, inclusive, sobre o momento da troca do protetor. Além disso, estas orientações e treinamentos devem ser desenvolvidos com grupos de operários, por meio de palestras, folhetos explicativos, vídeos ou reuniões (14) . CONCLUSÃO: Com esta pesquisa, pode-se concluir que os trabalhadores avaliados estão cientes em relação à importância do uso e manuseio adequado dos protetores auriculares, mas ainda precisam ser mais bem orientados em relação à troca e higienização do Equipamento de Proteção Individual. Concluiu-se, também, que o trabalho deve ser realizado por uma equipe multidisciplinar e depende da colaboração de cada trabalhador, para maior efetividade do Programa de Conservação Auditiva.Palavras-chave: Equipamento de Proteção Individual, Programa de Conservação Auditiva, Perda Auditiva Induzida pelo Ruído, Ruído Ocupacional.
