Die drei plutonischen Gfirtel sind, im Siid-Tibet, yon Norden nach Sfiden, der Transhimalaya (oder Kangdese), der Nordhimalaya (oder Lhagoi Kangri) und der Hochhimalaya. 25 neue K/Ar-Datierungen an Mineralien und Gesamtgestein wurden friihen Werten hinzugefiigt und erlauben eine Pr~izisierung der chronologischen Beziehungen der verschiedenen magmatischen, tektonischen und metamorphen Ereignisse, die beiderseits der Indus-Tsangpo-Suturzone statffanden. 1 -Die Platznahme des gr6gten Tells des Transhimalayaplutons scheint im Eoz~in erfolgt zu sein, was eine enge Beziehung des magmatischen Ereignisses mit dem Finalstadium der Konvergenz Indiens und Eurasien vermuten l~igt. 2 -Im Siiden der Suturzone schwanken die Alterswerte im wesentlichen zwischen 11 und 15 Mia. Jahren. Das h6chste Alter erlaubt die Festlegung der unteren chronologischen Grenze der metamorphen Rekristallisation der pal~iozoischen Granitoide des Nordhimalayas; ein mittleres Alter k6nnte der unteren Grenze fiir die Platznahme der k~inozoischen Granitoide des Hochhimalayas und z. T. des Nordhimalayas entsprechen; das jfingste Alter k6nnte schlieglich die n6rdlichsten Granitoide des Nordhimalayasgiirtel kennzeichnen. Die groge Koh~irenz zwischen diesen Altersbestimmungen und den im Gel~nde gemessenen Werten legt nahe, dag die schwachen chronologischen Unterschiede signifikant sein k6nnen. 3 -Unsere Bestimmungen ergeben oft bedeutend jiingere Alter, als meistens ffir die gleichen magmatischen Ereignisse angegeben worden ist. Wie nahegelegt wurde, k6nnte diese Diskrepanz ein relativ sprites Kollidieren der Indischen und Eurasischen Platte im Ostlichen Tell der Sutur bedeuten.
