RESUMOO edentulismo resulta na remodelação das estruturas ósseas devido às perdas dentárias e na diminuição das funções do sistema mastigatório devido às alterações nos nervos, vasos e musculatura facial. Uma maxila edentada que se opõe a dentes anteriores inferiores, associada a reabsorção óssea na pré maxila, hiperplasia papilar da mucosa do palato duro, extrusão dentária, aumento das tuberosidades e perda óssea sob a base da prótese parcial removível são características da síndrome da combinação, tais características podem apresentar-se individual ou coletivamente. O correto diagnóstico e tratamento prévio impedem a progressão das alterações causadas pela síndrome.
