Se intenta entender la relación que guarda en un país en desarrollo la internacionalización de una empresa con la innovación, definida ésta como la generación de nuevos productos y procesos. Se toma como base una muestra de 2 285 empresas manufactureras mexicanas para el periodo 2008-2009. A través de un análisis econométrico este trabajo aporta a la literatura existente y concluye que después de controlar por el tamaño de la empresa, su esfuerzo innovador y el grado de concentración de la industria, ser exportador promueve la generación de nuevos procesos e innovaciones para el mundo; la inversión extranjera directa favorece innovaciones a nivel mundial; en tanto que las importaciones no promueven la actividad innovadora y ser maquilador inhibe todo tipo de innovación en producto y en proceso.
Este trabajo explora la relación entre migración y remesas con asistencia escolar y años de escolaridad de niñas y niños entre 11 y 19 años del sector rural mexicano. El análisis toma en cuenta la cultura migratoria del hogar y la comunidad, e incluye el efecto que el programa Oportunidades puede ejercer sobre las variables de escolaridad. Al estimar un sistema de ecuaciones simultáneas de migración y remesas con las 2 variables de educación, nuestros resultados sugieren que la experiencia migratoria, tanto del hogar como de la comunidad, inciden negativamente sobre la asistencia escolar y los años de escolaridad.
Con datos de la Encuesta Intercensal 2015 y de los censos de 2010 y 2000, este trabajo analiza la integración laboral de los trabajadores procedentes del triángulo norte de Centroamérica en México y presenta evidencia de que sus salarios y prestaciones han sido más altos que los de los trabajadores mexicanos comparables, en grupos de inmigrantes y periodos determinados. Para comprobar los resultados controlando por efectos fijos temporales y por condiciones de demanda, se estimaron ecuaciones de salarios con los datos de los censos y la encuesta intercensal integrados y de manera separada para migrantes y nativos.
