ILUSTRATION OF THE INFLUENCE OF THE HEATING RATE IN THERMOGRAVIMETRYRESULTS. The effects of the heating rate on a TG curve of a sample have been widely discussed in the literature. This paper shows the influence of heating rate (β) in thermogravimetry results when stoichiometry determinations are studied. For this purpose the compound Sm(CH 3 SO 3 ) 3 .2(3-picNO) was considered β of 2,5; 5; 10; 20 and 40ºC min -1 in dynamic air atmosphere were obtained. The results are in agreement with proposed stoichiometry for β equal to 2,5 and 5ºC min -1 . However, using a higher β the same results were not obtained resulting in false stoichiometry determinations.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
