Evaluation of manual lymphatic drainage in the immediate postpartum periodAbstract: We evaluated the efficacy of manual lymphatic drainage in the immediate postpartum period in relation to the improvement in the rate of mother's mood from the post-anesthetic recovery room through a prospective study with a quantitative control group with 20 immediate postpartum women cesarean parturition. The mean time for total movement of the lower limbs in the case group was 55 minutes and in the control group it was 111.8 minutes (p>0.045). There were differences between BP and HR from the third measurement (45 minutes after admission), with lower values for systolic BP and HR in the group receiving Manual Lymphatic Drainage (p=0.048 and p=0.030, respectively). The 24 hours postpartum evaluation revealed that the time for ambulation in the case group was lower than in the control group, with statistical significance (p=0.04). All of these indicators have contributed to your self-care and caring for your baby.Descriptors: Drainage, Lymphatic System, Cesarean Parturition. Aim. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of lymph drainage to reduce edema of pregnant women. Method. Pregnant women (30 limbs) from the Obstetrics Outpatient Clinic of the Medical School of Santa Casa in São Paulo in the period December 2009 to May 2010 were enrolled in this quantitative, prospective study. The patients, in the 5th to 8th months of gestation, were submitted to one hour of manual lymph drainage of the legs. The volume of the legs was measured by water displacement volumetry before and after one hour of drainage using the Godoy & Godoy manual lymph drainage technique. The paired t-test was used for statistical analysis with an alpha error of 5% being considered significant. Results. Manual lymph drainage significantly reduced swelling of the legs of pregnant women during the day (P = 0.04). Conclusion. Manual lymph drainage helps to reduce limb size during the day of pregnant women.
Verificaram-se disfunções da tireóide em 8% dos casos, com alterações de TSH e/ou T 4 L. AbstractPuRPOse: to quantify the presence of antithyroperoxidase (anti-TPO) and antithyroglobulin (anti-TG) antibodies, and the plasmatic concentrations of thyrotropin (TSH) and free thyroxine (FT 4 ) in normal pregnant women. MethOds: a hundred twenty-seven pregnant women, residing in São Paulo, aged from 14 to 44 years old and gestational age ≥ 16 weeks, determined by ultrasound performed before the 20 th week of pregnancy were included in a transversal study performed in the prenatal clinic of Santa Casa de Misericórdia de São Paulo, from January 2003 to September 2004. Pregnant women using medicines or with thyroidopathy history were excluded. Antithyroperoxidase and antithyroglobulin antibodies were quantified by chemiluminescence immunoassay. The immunofluorimetry technique by time-resolved was used for determining the thyrotrophin and free thyroxine. The Student's t test, with significance of 5%, was used for analyzing the results. Results: the frequency of antithyroid antibodies was 12.6% (8.6% of anti-TPO antibodies, and 4.6% of anti-TG trabalho realizado no departamento de Obstetrícia e Ginecologia da irmandade da s...
