Resumo: A ocorrência de fármacos no meio ambiente tem se tornado um assunto de interesse nos últimos anos, uma vez que estes compostos têm sido detectados nos cursos d'água podendo ocasionar alterações no sistema endócrino de diferentes organismos. Neste contexto, a utilização de adsorventes naturais tem se mostrado uma opção adequada para remoção destes compostos. Neste trabalho, estudou-se a remoção do composto estrona (E1) utilizando o adsorvente Typha angustifolia L. tratado em meio ácido. Estudos de infravermelho indicam a presença de bandas características de grupos funcionais responsáveis pela interação adsorvente-adsorvato, além disso, a caracterização por MEV possibilita observar poros presentes no material adsorvente. Realizou-se estudos de adsorção com CAPÍTULO 2 32 Estudos Interdisciplinares em Ciências Ambientais, Território e Movimentos Sociais variação do pH da solução (remoção superior a 90% em todas as soluções). Estudos de isotermas de adsorção indicam adequação ao modelo de Freundlich (r 2 = 0,9909), com adsorção em multicamadas e cinética de pseudossegunda ordem (r 2 = 0,9992). Nos estudos de difusão, intrapartícula observa-se que outros fatores, além da difusão, influenciam no processo de adsorção (C = 0,0378). Com base em todos os resultados, o adsorvente pode ser indicado para adsorção do composto E1 em soluções aquosas.
