The gigantea group is one of the six species groups of the genus Colocasiomyia Meijere, 1914 (Diptera, Drosophilidae). All the nine known species of this group breed on inflorescence/infructescence of host plants of the subfamily Monsteroideae (Araceae) and are geographically restricted to the Oriental region: seven species found exclusively from Rhaphidophora spp. in southern China, and the remaining two from Sabah (host plant: Scindapsus coriaceus) in Borneo or from West Java (host plant: Epipremnum pinnatum). In the present paper, a new member of the gigantea group, C. daiae sp. nov., is described, with adult specimens and eggs collected from inflorescences of Scindapsus maclurei in Hainan, China and larvae and pupae reared from field-collected eggs in the laboratory.
During the rice-threshing process, straws always attached to a threshing cylinder and induced vibration and modal variation. In this paper, the constraint and threshing modals of the threshing cylinder were tested under idling and load conditions, and the causes of vibration and modal variation were explained. Based on the constraint and modal of the threshing cylinder, the vibration amplitudes and frequencies undergoing rice threshing were tested and analyzed. Results showed that mass of straws decreased gradually with the separation of rice grains and straws. And there was a nonuniform change in the circumferential resistance of the threshing cylinder. The fluctuating torque, speed, and frequencies during threshing process would cause vibration of the threshing cylinder. During rice-threshing process, the other natural frequencies were greater than the excitation frequency. With the accumulation of a large amount of straws, the threshing modal frequencies of the tangential threshing cylinder increased. The threshing bars caused vibration of the tangential threshing cylinder in the left and right direction mainly at two frequencies. At idling state of no-load, the vibration frequency 42.97 Hz of the tangential threshing cylinder in X direction was close to the constraint modal frequency 41.58 Hz. The eccentric load caused the excitation frequency to increase during the rice-threshing process. The vibration frequency was also closely related to the threshing modal. The tangential threshing cylinder with low vibration characteristics could be designed by using the eccentric vibration characteristics during the threshing process.
The gas permeation through nanoscale membranes like graphene has been extensively studied by experiments and empirical models. In contrast to planar membranes, the single-walled carbon nanotube has a natural confined hollow structure, which shall affect the gas permeation process. We perform molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the effect of the nanotube diameter on the gas permeation process. It is found that the permeance constant increases with the increase of the nanotube diameter, which can not be explained by existing empirical models. We generalize the three-state model to describe the diameter dependence for the permeance constant, which discloses a distinctive confinement-induced adsorption phenomenon for the gas molecule on the nanotube's inner surface. This adsorption phenomenon effectively reduces the pressure of the bulk gas, leading to the decrease of the permeance constant. These results illustrate the importance of the adsorption within the confined space on the gas permeation process.
In this paper, a method is developed for nonlinear analysis of laterally loaded long-flexible pile near undrained clay slope. The ideal elastic-plastic p-y curve model is used as the basic calculation model to study the pile-soil interaction system. To consider the slope effect on the soil resistance along with pile length, related reduction function expressions of soil resistance are selected by assessing the existing methods. A finite difference iteration scheme is proposed to solve the pile’s deflection curve equations to obtain nonlinear response of pile. The developed method is validated by comparing its results with the existing method, which shows a good agreement. A number of parameters analyses are carried out, and effects of different influence factors on laterally loaded pile are further discussed.
