Songs in teaching English are not used to the full extent. To confirm this, we created a set of exercises based on the use of songs to form socio-cultural and regional knowledge, to familiarize students with the culture and way of life of Great Britain, to gain a deeper understanding of the representatives of this linguistic cultural community. The next step was carrying out a survey on revealing the effectiveness of using songs in EFL class, more precisely their effect on the developing of intercultural competence. Following methods were used to conduct the survey: the questionnaire of teachers and students, to determine the role of English songs in the developing of intercultural competence; the analysis of English language course books to determine the presence of songs focusing on their cultural significance; Life in the UK Test, a test to check the knowledge of the history and culture of Britain. The results of the research showed the expediency of using song to develop intercultural competence. Moreover, use of songs aroused interest among students; they expressed the opinion that lyrics have a much deeper meaning and varied information than they thought before using them in English classes. They expressed a desire to continue using songs during classes in keeping with this approach.
The modern system of foreign language teaching impacts a qualitative change in the new methodological approaches with using innovative technologies in the educational process. Spencer Kagan created Cooperative learning structures that make collaborative learning easy to use. It provides students with valuable and ample opportunities to combine language resources and collaboratively build knowledge and writing through interaction. Cooperative learning methods do not require a detailed study of plans, educational materials, and special training. Hence the article depicts University students' implementation of collaborative academic writing skills in a Computer-assisted Language Learning environment. Collaborative writing is interpreted as an action in which students communicate, consult, and make collective decisions during the writing process through computer and create a unique text with shared accountability and co-ownership. In this paper, the crucial types of academic writings are highlighted, and experimental teaching results have proved Kagan's collaborative model as a useful technique for improving students' academic writing skills.
Modern education sets the task to prepare active and responsible graduates who will later be able to transform the life of his country in all its spheres. Teachers can only encourage this through the use of new and interesting teaching methods and educational technologies. The article shows the possibility of QR-codes as an interactive learning tool that can increase the interest and motivation of students. The task of this article is to examine the usage and the productiveness of implementing the QR codes. The application of QR technologies in the educational process will allow students to increase the interest in the educational process and the study of disciplines, get timely and full information to the student without the effect of waste. This technology will increase the availability of information, improve the quality of feedback during activities, improve their focus, and allow them to perform as close as possible to the interests of students. It is recommended to use scanners from well-known manufacturers, so that to be sure of its security and the absence of malware when going through unknown link. The survey was conducted among the students of Kostanay State Pedagogical University, and according to result we made a discussion.
