Este estudo objetiva visitar e discutir conceitos e diretrizes de composição compreendidos nas matrizes estéticas do conto moderno, consolidadas por Edgar Allan Poe e Anton Tchékhov no século XIX. Para isso, examinam-se de um lado textos como “A filosofia da composição” e resenhas sobre <em>Twice-Told Tales</em>, de Nathaniel Hawthorne, em que Poe sistematiza aspectos concernentes ao processo de escrita do conto, e, de outro, algumas das missivas redigidas por Tchékhov acerca de seu exercício de composição literária. O estudo se vale, também, de perspectivas teórico-críticas formuladas por Ricardo Piglia (2004) e Charles Kiefer (2011) a respeito do conto moderno.
O título do volume é sugestivo, sobretudo ao levar-se em consideração o estado das discussões relativas à problemática regionalista na Literatura Brasileira. RegionalismusRegionalismos oferece perspectivas provocadoras e atualizadas sobre "uma questão que, para muitos, nem questão é", nas palavras de Luís Augusto Fischer (2007, p. 127). Precisamente nesse ponto reside um dos grandes méritos da obra, que ventila ponderações relevantes a um país que, como o Brasil, é marcado pela questão do regional há pelo menos dois séculos, desde seu processo de independência, e que a despeito disso não vem elaborando o tema com a devida complexidade, tanto nos domínios da crítica como nos da historiografia literária.
Este artigo objetiva refletir sobre a temática da velhice a partir da análise de Diario da guerra do porco (1969), escrito pelo argentino Adolfo Bioy Casares. Além disso, busca examinar a abordagem conferida a expressões de sexualidade e afeto na idade madura, tomando-se por foco a caracterização de Isidoro Vidal, protagonista do romance. Para tanto, o estudo se vale das perspectivas teóricas de Simone de Beauvoir (2018) acerca da velhice, de Michel Foucault (1979; 1988) a respeito da sexualidade e das relações de poder e de Benedictus de Spinoza (2008) sobre a origem e a natureza dos afetos.
