O presente trabalho teve o objetivo de relatar o caso de um felino com doença renal crônica diagnosticado com proteinúria de origem renal submetido ao tratamento com telmisartana. A proteinúria é definida pela presença de proteína na urina e está ligada a progressão da doença renal crônica assim como a hipertensão arterial sistêmica (HAS), e ambas podem acelerar o processo de perda da função renal. Um felino, fêmea, de 6 anos de idade com histórico de hiporexia, vômitos, poliúria e polidipsia, perda de peso, apresentando piora progressiva da azotemia, alterações ultrassonográficas na morfologia renal, bem como alteração na relação proteína creatinina urinária (RPC) que foi numerada em 1,262, sendo o valor normal adotado pela Sociedade Internacional de Interesse Renal (IRIS) abaixo ou igual a 0,2. O tratamento instituído para regressão da proteinúria foi com telmisartana na dose 1mg/kg/VO/SID, apresentando regressão da RPC para 0,33 um mês após início da terapêutica. Desta forma, conclui-se que a terapêutica estabelecida com telmisartana foi efetiva na redução da proteinúria.
