A amebíase é uma doença parasitária causada pelo protozoário Entamoeba histolytica. Estima-se que 400 milhões de pessoas estejam infectadas, ocasionando de 40 a 100 mil mortes por ano devido suas complicações, ficando atrás apenas da malária por mortes causadas por doenças parasitárias. Pessoas imunocomprometidas são propensas a desenvolver a forma mais agressiva da doença. Dentre as proteínas responsáveis por sua patogenia, a Gal/GalNAc é uma das mais imunogênicas. Nela está localizado o domínio de reconhecimento de carboidratos (CRD), região que estimula maior resposta de anticorpos, fazendo com que se obtenha resposta imune contra a doença, sendo útil no desenvolvimento de vacinas ou testes diagnósticos. O objetivo deste trabalho foi gerar uma proteína recombinante, expressando CRD do parasito fusionado ao baculovírus, um vírus de inseto não patogênico aos seres humanos, baseado na metodologia adaptada de Luckow, et al (1993). A expressão em baculovírus ocorreu pela fusão do gene de interesse ao gene da poliedrina, proteína do vírus responsável pelo fenótipo de permanência no ambiente
