Os pacientes oncológicos podem apresentar níveis variados de dor, os quais podem sofrer alterações de acordo com o estágio da doença. Um dos maiores problemas para se tratar a dor está na dificuldade de diagnosticá-la e mensurá-la, sendo esse fator o que mais reduz a qualidade de vida no tratamento de câncer. É necessário portanto realizar uma avaliação global e se necessário associar mais de uma classe de medicamentos para de se obter os melhores resultados terapêuticos no alívio dela, conseguir diminuir o stress do paciente e alcançar um resultado positivo sobre a relação do mesmo com seus cuidadores da equipe de saúde e familiares. Com o objetivo de proporcionar melhor qualidade de vida ao paciente oncológico várias estratégias terapêuticas são utilizadas, porém muitas vezes as reações adversas advindas das mesmas podem comprometer outras funções fisiológicas e também trazer algumas consequências de impacto negativo no organismo. Este paciente será assistido por uma equipe multidisciplinar que além da saúde física, trabalhará a questão psicológica com a finalidade de avaliar as respostas ao tratamento e diminuir seu sofrimento. O presente estudo de revisão busca elucidar quais são estas reações adversas a medicamentos (RAM), qual a droga de melhor escolha de acordo com a condição clínica do paciente, especificamente com relação à duas drogas que serão comparadas: Morfina e Oxicodona e qual o maior tempo de analgesia de acordo com o mecanismo de ação de cada fármaco. Com base na análise destes dados foi possível identificar a melhor opção terapêutica para o alívio da dor em pacientes oncológicos.
