La densidad y el tamaño poblacional se relacionan con las condiciones y efectos del ambiente sobre una población. En ese sentido, el objetivo del presente trabajo fue determinar la densidad y tamaño poblacional de la especie Ocypode gaudichaudii en cuatro playas de la provincia de Manabí, Ecuador; las cuales fueron Punta Bikini, San Jacinto, Los Ranchos y La Boca. La estimación de la densidad poblacional se realizó mediante el método por distancias con transectos lineales. Por otro lado, los datos fueron procesados con el software especializado Distance 7.3 y se utilizaron distintas funciones de detección y ajustes. A partir de ello, se registró un total de 1600 madrigueras en el área de estudio de las cuatro playas. La densidad poblacional estimada fue 0.42 ind/m2 (I. C.: 0.36-0.48 ind/m2), con 7.29 % CV; mientras que el tamaño poblacional, 5911 individuos (I. C.: 5098-6854 individuos). Entre los principales resultados se identificó que la densidad y el tamaño poblacional de O. gaudichaudii difirió entre sitios de muestreo. Estas diferencias estuvieron relacionadas con el impacto antropogénico como la movilización de vehículos y arrastre de embarcaciones (i. e., Los Ranchos) y la influencia estuarina (i. e., San Jacinto). Se concluye que es necesario determinar la influencia del ambiente físico y químico de las variables ambientales en la densidad y tamaño poblacional de O. gaudichaudii.
