A educação infantil é fundamental para o desenvolvimento estudantil das pessoas e entender o que pode influenciar, tanto negativamente como positivamente é essencial para buscar excelência no desempenho das crianças. Apesar disso, há poucos estudos na área em questão, que procuram entender essas variáveis que interferem na educação infantil. Por isso, o objetivo geral deste artigo é compreender as variáveis que possam influenciar a performance escolar a partir do olhar de gestores escolares. Para alcançar o objetivo, foi utilizado as abordagens qualitativas e exploratória, bem como o uso de revisão bibliográfica e entrevistas com 1 ex-diretor de escola e 2 ex-professores de escolas públicas. Para analisar os dados coletados, foi empregado a analise de conteúdo. Dentre os resultados obtidos, foi constatado que as condições socioeconômicas e o ambiente familiar interferem diretamente no desempenho escolar das crianças, bem como o ambiente escolar e a formação do educador infantil. Ao final do artigo, fica constatado que o estudo desenvolvido contribuiu com a academia ao aprofundar o tema sobre as interferências que ocorrem na educação infantil nas escolas públicas das redes municipais, através de ex-diretor e ex-professores.
