Introdução: A Síndrome de Down (SD) é uma alteração genética e é a mais frequente em humanos. Esses indivíduos têm como características gerais a baixa estatura, retardo mental, dismorfia facial, hipotonia muscular general, complicação como o defeito congênito do coração. Objetivo: Compreender as causas que levam a SD e as possibilidades de indivíduos férteis gerarem filhos com essa síndrome. Desenvolvimento: A Síndrome de Down ocorrer a partir de três anormalidades cromossômicas: a trissomia simples do cromossomo 21 (95% dos casos); a translocação (3% dos casos); e o mosaicismo, (2% dos casos). RESUMOA presente revisão de literatura tem por objetivo analisar as principais características genéticas, moleculares e biológicas em portadores de fibrose cística. Essa doença, popularmente designada de "doença do beijo salgado", possui caráter genético autossômico recessivo, expressada por mutação no gene CFTR, o qual codifica uma proteína CFTR defeituosa nesse processo e culmina em alterações a nível biológico de forma multissistêmica. Repercutida de diversas formas, a partir da alteração em canais de íons cloro, se agrava principalmente nas vias respiratórias, e a partir da qual se evidencia o grave quadro que pode se tornar essa enfermidade, sendo assim necessário o aconselhamento genético aos pais com o fenótipo da CFTR. Notoriamente, ainda, se fazendo necessário mais estudos de aprofundamento dessa comorbidade.
