Phenoxazine, 10-ethyl-, and 10-phenylphenoxazine are metalated by n-butyllithium to give what probably are 4-substituted carboxylic acids.10-Ethylphenoxazine-3-carboxylic acid and l@-(4-carboxyphenyl)-plienoxazine were prepared by a halogen-metal interconversion reaction, which established these structures.Attempts to prove the structures by interconversion of the acids were not successful.
A series of tetra-n-alkyl-, tri-n-alkylaryl-, and n-alkyltriarylsilanes, as well as intermediate compounds, have been prepared for potential use as hydraulic fluids or lubricants. Each compound contains at least one long-chained n-alkyl group having from ten to eighteen carbon atoms. Some aspects of the various means of preparing these compounds are discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
