Skeletal anomalies, principally of the axial skeleton, occurred with a frequency of 0.28 per cent in a population of 10,683 pigs produced over an 8-year period. These anomalies are described and possible genetic interpretations considered. It was concluded that they were manifestations of metabolic disturbances of non-genetic origin occurring at different stages and/or with variable intensity during embryonic development.
