-013Structure-Property Correlations in Lithium Phosphate Glasses: New Insights from 31 P↔ 7 Li Double-Resonance NMR.-Lithium phosphate glasses xLi 2 O(1-x)P 2 O 5 are prepared from appropriate amounts of P 2 O 5 and LiPO 3 (evacuated silica tubes, 900 • C, 24 h) or from appropriate amounts of Li 3 PO 4 , LiPO 3 , and P 2 O 5 (alumina crucible, 1000 • C). The prepared samples are investigated by 31 P-{ 7 Li} rotational echo double-resonance (REDOR) NMR spectroscopy. The NMR results suggest that the average number of Li atoms surrounding a P site increases abruptly near x = 0.2-0.25 correlating with a minimum in the glass transition temperature at the same composition.
The title compounds are prepared by reacting stoichiometric mixtures of NbO 2 F and NbF 5 or TaO 2 F and TaF 5 , resp., at 180-220°C (Pt crucibles, argon, 12-24 h). The isotypic compounds crystallize in space group I4/mmm with Z = 10 (variant of the SnF 4 type). The structure consists of layers of corner-sharing M(O,F) 6 octahedra which are stacked to a three-dimensional framework via van der Waals interactions. The occupancy of the two crystallographically different anion sites by O and F is discussed on the basis of the structure refinements, bond order summations, IR and NMR data, and calculations of the Madelung parts of the lattice energy. -(KOEHLER*, J.; SIMON, A.; VAN WUELLEN, L.; CORDIER, S.; ROISNEL, T.; POULAIN, M.; SOMER, M.; Z.
Zinc Zinc I 1700 Solution Mediated Synthesis and Structure of the First Anionic Bis-(hexaborato)-Zincate Prepared in the Presence of an Organic Amine. -Title compound (III) crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1 with Z = 1 (single crystal XRD) and contains cyclic B6O7(OH)6 units connected through a Zn atom. The anionic Zn-bis-hexaborato units are connected by strong hydrogen bonds to form herringbone-like chains and the protonated amine molecules are located between the chains. -(NATARAJAN*, S.; KLEIN, W.; PANTHOEFER, M.; VAN WUELLEN, L.; JANSEN*, M.; Z.
