Zusammenfassung Das subjektive Sicherheitsgefühl der Bevölkerung und die objektive Sicherheitslage gehen häufig auseinander. Für eine effektive Kriminalprävention sollten beide Ebenen berücksichtigt werden. Im Hinblick auf eine zielgerichtete städtebauliche Kriminalprävention wurden mögliche Zusammenhänge zwischen dem subjektiven Sicherheitsgefühl in der Wohngegend und Merkmalen der physischen sowie sozialen Stadtstruktur analysiert. Die Daten zum Sicherheitsgefühl stammen aus einer Bevölkerungsbefragung des Landeskriminalamtes Nordrhein-Westfalen. Die Daten zur Stadtstruktur wurden über die infas360 GmbH bezogen. Mit den getrennten Datenquellen sollte überprüft werden, inwieweit sich objektiv vorliegende Daten zur Erklärung des Sicherheitsgefühls und in der Konsequenz auch für zielgerichtete Kriminalprävention nutzen lassen. Im Ergebnis zeigten sich lediglich geringe Zusammenhänge. Weder die Variablen der physischen Stadtstruktur, noch die Variablen der sozialen Stadtstruktur konnten wesentlich zur Erklärung des subjektiven Sicherheitsgefühls auf der individuellen Ebene beitragen, obgleich die Richtung der Zusammenhänge den theoretischen Annahmen entsprochen hat. Eine Mehrebenanalyse zeigte, dass die objektiven Daten eher auf der Ebene der Postleitzahlbereiche und nicht auf der individuellen Ebene wirken. Letztendlich wird angenommen, dass die räumliche Betrachtungsgröße auf Postleitzahlbereichen zum einen und die methodische Trennung zwischen dem subjektiv erhobenen Sicherheitsgefühl und den objektiv vorliegenden Daten der Stadtstruktur zum anderen dazu führten, dass lediglich geringe Zusammenhänge festgestellt werden konnten. Bei der Verwendung soziostruktureller Daten sollte somit stets die räumliche Bezugsgröße berücksichtigt werden, auf der sie Wirkung entfalten.
