El siguiente artículo hace parte de uno de los capítulos del trabajo de investigación titulado: «La colonización de tierras baldías en el marco de la reforma agraria colombiana 1961-1983. El caso de “El Sarare” en Arauca». El objetivo es conocer el proceso de formación técnica que surgió dentro del proyecto agrario de los años sesenta como uno de los logros más significativos, gracias a la creación de instituciones de formación técnica y carreras profesionales que no existían en el país, capacitaciones a cientos de funcionarios que orientaron y llevaron nuevo conocimiento a las zonas de colonización, y procesos de alfabetización y educación básica para campesinos y sus familias. Todo ello con el fin de mejorar las condiciones de vida del campesinado y alcanzar su reconocimiento dentro de la sociedad colombiana.
El artículo pretende reflexionar sobre la importancia de los conocimientos socio-humanísticos en procura del rescate de la esencia de la academia, así como en la formación integral e idónea de estudiantes en proceso de formación docente de Educación Básica Primaria. El análisis parte de una revisión bibliográfica acerca de cuáles han sido las tendencias pedagógicas en el campo socio-humanístico que se han mantenido constantemente en las prácticas docentes, visibilizando allí dos vertientes del humanismo: uno clásico, neoconservador y romántico, el cual se basa en la formación por competencias, la práctica centrada en un currículo ya predefinido y las interacciones y relaciones que articulan contenidos tradicionales, los cuales están lejanos de las problemáticas latentes de las sociedades del conocimiento; y otro, poco frecuente, que se encamina hacia un humanismo liberador, emancipador y centrado en la libertad de los pueblos. Este último es el que nos interesa incentivar tanto en las aulas de clase universitaria en general, así como particularmente en el proceso de formación docente de estudiantes, con el fin de generar procesos democráticos y ciudadanos, así como espacios interculturales que permitan transformaciones de pensamiento necesarias para humanizar las sociedades de hoy.
Las Humanidades se ocupan del ser humano inmerso en un entorno social que le exige preguntarse por sí mismo (Antropología) y por los demás (Sociología). En este sentido, su misión en el contexto universitario es complementar la labor de la familia y la academia en cuanto tiene que ver con la construcción de un mejor conocimiento sobre el ser humano y el mundo que le rodea. En otros términos, las Humanidades deben propiciar en el sujeto el desarrollo de la capacidad hermenéutica de sí mismo y de los demás, como una forma de enriquecer su formación científica o disciplinar. Lo contrario, es decir, la apuesta por una “humanidad sin humanidades” (Savater), supondría el fracaso de los esfuerzos por comprender realmente el sentido y el valor de lo que nos hace humanos. En la Universidad la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de las Humanidades se enmarcan en el campo de las Ciencias Humanas. Sin embargo, actualmente se presta tanta atención y se invierten tantos esfuerzos en el desarrollo de competencias ligadas al saber-aprender y el saber-hacer, que el saber-ser y el saber-convivir han terminado en un segundo plano, como si no fueran aspectos fundamentales para el desarrollo de seres integrales. Es a partir de esta realidad, que el presente artículo aborda lo que podría considerarse como el “naufragio de las humanidades” en una época obnubilada por los milagros de la tecnología y los avances científicos.
