Conclusions: Kidney injury is an anticipated complication in asphyxiated neonates. Urinary b2-microglobulin is a sensitive early, noninvasive test for diagnosing Acute Kidney Injury in neonates who have suffered from birth asphyxia. However, for neonates who have suffered severe forms of birth asphyxia, other follow up confirmatory tests will be required to diagnose acute kidney injury in asphyxiated neonates.
