''Sabe, dona Coruja, há um pequeno problema técnico de implantação na idéia que a senhora me deu no outro dia. Sapos não voam".A coruja, já provavelmente cansada daquele problema tão simples, retrucou: '1\Ião me venha com problemas técnicos de implantação. Meus conselhos são fundamentalmente conceituais".Quantas vezes já nos encontramos na situação ou do sapo ou da coruja da pequena fábula acima! Quantas vezes, vemos a solução simples para um problema que depois toma-se um verdadeiro pesadelo de implantação. Quantas vezes acreditamos numa determinada técnica que se mostra inatingível na prática, com nossas restrições do dia-a-dia! Não há necessidade de ser sempre negativo, é claro. Algumas vezes temos oportunidade de presenciar outro tipo de situação.Em meados da década de 80, eu trabalhava como consultor empresarial com ênfase em operações e ambiente fabril. O estado da arte eram coisas como Kanban, Just-in-Time, células de produção e por aí vai. Eu conhecia (ou achava que conhecia) essas coisas todas, e tinha muito trabalho disponível ajudando meus clientes de então a implementá-las.O mundo era cheio de oportunidades e eu me divertia ... Foi neste ambiente que conheci o (então) diretor industrial da Massey-Perkins, em São Bernardo do Campo, Marco Aurélio Salvany. Convidado a ver sua fábrica, achava que veria o que estava acostumado a ver em todas as outras fábricas que visitava: enormes pilhas de estoques, gente furiosamente operando máquinas e fabricando mais daquilo que já estava empilhado, enfim, o "ecossistema" que para mim era oportunidade de trabalho e para meu cliente prospectivo, oportunidade de significativas melhorias.Um pedaço da fábrica estava realmente no script esperado. O outro pedaço, porém, mostrava tudo aquilo que a fábrica RAE Light, v. 4, n. 1, p. 3-9 seria no futuro caso minhas possíveis sugestões fossem implantadas: Kanban funcionando, células de produção com fluxo ininterrupto de materiais, pessoas trabalhando menos e produzindo mais. Encontravam-se, portanto, em meio a uma instalação bem-sucedida. Ao ver tudo aquilo, disse ao Salvany: "Talvez você precise de alguém com quem trocar idéias, mas certamente não precisa de ajuda na implantação desta idéias todas. Alguém trabalhou com você nisso?". E ele respondeu: "Não. Li alguns livros e fiz o que estava escrito."
