Las investigaciones que han abordado la percepción de estudiantes universitarios sobre los estilos y las estrategias de aprendizaje que utilizan para enfrentar las tareas académicas arrojan resultados muy diversos. El objetivo de esta investigación es conocer los estilos y las estrategias de aprendizaje que predominan en estudiantes de carreras de ciencias (Matemática, Física, Química, Biología y Ciencias Sociales) orientadas a la Educación Secundaria, así como explorar relaciones entre estilos, estrategias, rendimiento académico y otras variables sociodemográficas. El estudio se realizó con un enfoque cuantitativo y un diseño no experimental-transversal con un alcance descriptivo-correlacional. La población estudiada tiene una preferencia moderada por los cuatro estilos, y el predominante es el teórico (29.31 %), seguido por el reflexivo (27.23 %), el activo (23.04 %) y el pragmático (20.42 %). Independientemente de su influencia en el rendimiento, resulta útil conocer los estilos y las estrategias de aprendizaje del estudiantado para incidir en la mejora de su desempeño.
