Cirurgias plásticas envolvendo o uso de próteses de silicone correspondem a grande parcela dos procedimentos estéticos realizados mundialmente. Estima-se que milhões de pessoas foram expostas ao silicone nas últimas décadas. Associadas ao uso crescente de adjuvantes, as reações adversas aos implantes mamários de silicone (IMS) também entraram em expansão. Desse modo, o presente estudo objetiva revisar a incidência da Síndrome Autoimune Induzida por Adjuvantes (ASIA) em pacientes com IMS e analisar suas possíveis causas.Utilizando os descritores "autoimmune syndrome induced by adjuvant AND breast implants; Shoenfeld syndrome AND breast implants" nas fontes de pesquisa PubMed, Lilacs, SciElo, Cochrane, MEDLINE e Redalyc foram encontrados 45 artigos. Após aplicados os critérios de exclusão, sete foram selecionados para esta revisão.Conclui-se que a ASIA é uma complicação possível em pacientes que se submetem ao IMS. O mecanismo fisiopatológico da síndrome não é claro, porém, estudos evidenciam que pacientes com a síndrome possuem maior predisposição genética ao desenvolvimento de doenças autoimunes ou apresentam histórico de atopia. Embora a síndrome não seja uma grande ameaça à Cirurgia Plástica, por apresentar baixa prevalência, é uma complicação plausível com elevados riscos de subdiagnósticos e, portanto, necessita de maiores estudos.Palavras-Chave: ASIA. O autismo é um distúrbio do desenvolvimento neurobiológico que geralmente se manifesta antes dos três primeiros anos de vida, e que é reconhecido, atualmente, como Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA). Os indivíduos que apresentam TEA possuem alterações na socialização, na cognição e na comunicação. Embora não se conheça nenhuma alteração morfológica que seja determinante para o desenvolvimento do TEA, algumas alterações estruturais no encéfalo têm sido identificadas em indivíduos com o transtorno, dentre as quais vale ressaltar as mais recorrentes: alterações no volume cerebral total, nas dimensões do corpo caloso e no volume do cerebelo. Nesse sentido, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo abordar as alterações neuroanatômicas mais frequentes em indivíduos com TEA. Trata-se de uma revisão narrativa por meio de estratégia de busca nas bases de dados BVS, Google Acadêmico, Pubmed, ScienceDirect e Scielo, com inclusão das referências que possuíam disponibilidade de acesso ao texto completo. A análise da literatura indica que o aumento de volume cerebral total em indivíduos com TEA pode desencadear alterações funcionais na comunicação, embora tal acometimento se manifeste em diferentes graus e o desempenho em algumas tarefas seja essencialmente normal. Além disso, a diminuição no tamanho e no volume do corpo caloso possui relação com alguns défices comportamentais, motores e não-motores. Por sua vez, as alterações cerebelares podem determinar comprometimento comportamental, à medida que se relacionam com a disfunção sensorial observada no TEA.
