A Odontologia digital consegue progressivamente dentro da prática clínica, dominar as adversidades relacionadas às técnicas convencionais de moldagem, pois os mecanismos com IOS (scanner intraoral) dar mais conforto ao paciente, otimiza o tempo de trabalho e oferece uma previsão do tratamento. Deste modo, a seleção do tipo de cerâmica vai influenciar na conservação da restauração. O objetivo deste estudo, foi relatar um caso clínico de reabilitação de um molar superior com a contribuição do fluxo digital, para obtenção de uma coroa total metalfree. Prontamente após o parecer clínico-radiográfico, elegeu-se um tratamento para o paciente, que consistia na troca de uma coroa fraturada em dissilicato de lítio injetada por uma fresada. O preparo expulsivo foi realizado com as brocas 2067 para o preparo dos ângulos externos retos e os internos com a 4138 para deixá-los arredondados. Quanto a cimentação, a melhor opção para este caso foi o cimento resinoso autoadesivo de polimerização dual. Por meio da execução deste trabalho, tornou-se viável a reabilitação dentária do paciente, capaz de incentivar e auxiliar nos próximos estudos em prótese fixa, executada no workflow digital por intermédio do scanner, de manejo simples e escaneamento definido.
Verificar os possíveis sinais e sintomas associados à erupção dos dentes decíduos na primeira infância e as formas de minimizar desconfortos. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, com a realização de busca em bases de dados. Após a definição da pergunta norteadora, as buscas foram realizadas na BVS, SciELO e PUBMED, utilizando os seguintes descritores: erupção dentária; dente decíduo; sinais e sintomas. Foram selecionados somente os estudos que atenderem aos seguintes critérios de inclusão: publicações dos últimos dez anos, em português ou inglês, possuindo no título ou no resumo os descritores definidos para as buscas e com foco temático coerente com o objetivo de estudo na presente proposta de pesquisa. Foram excluídos os trabalhos de conclusão de curso. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio da leitura integral dos estudos. Foram selecionados 9 estudos que atenderam aos critérios de elegibilidade. Os sinais e sintomas mais reportados na literatura foram a irritabilidade, aumento da temperatura timpânica, salivação excessiva, irritação gengival, estado febril e diarreia. As condutas terapêuticas mais comuns foram a automedicação, uso de mordedores e géis anestésicos, que são contraindicados devido ao risco de reações graves. Cuidados mais simples são indicados para reduzir os desconfortos com segurança, como a oferta de alimentos gelados, massagem gengival e uso de mordedores. A erupção dos dentes na primeira infância pode provocar sinais e sintomas que podem ser amenizados através de métodos simples, estando contraindicado o uso de géis anestésicos.
O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o conhecimento de cirurgiões-dentistas (CD) sobre as questões éticas que envolvem os dentes humanos. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, realizado com CD da cidade de Cajazeiras, Paraíba, Brasil. Para coleta de dados, foi aplicado um questionário via Google Forms. Nele, apresentava-se questionamentos sobre ética, extração dentaria e banco de dentes humanos (BDH). Foram incluídos os cirurgiões-dentistas inscritos no Conselho Regional de Odontologia (CRO) que atuam no Alto Sertão Paraibano e a busca pelos profissionais foi realizada diretamente no CRO, por e-mail e telefone. Foram excluídos aqueles que não preencheram completamente o formulário. Este estudo foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa sob parecer nº 5056616. A análise dos dados foi realizada utilizando-se análise descritiva dos resultados. Participaram 18 CD que atuam no alto sertão paraibano, com idade entre 22 e 41 anos. Dentre esses, a maioria era do sexo feminino, haviam se formado na rede privada de ensino e consideravam o dente como um órgão. Mais da metade dos CD afirmaram que doariam dentes extraídos em seus consultórios para o banco de dentes. Ainda, quase a totalidade destes, nunca doaram dentes extraídos em seus consultórios ao BDH. Os cirurgiões-dentistas deste estudo, em sua maioria, desconhecem a existência de BDH no estado, as prerrogativas legais envolvendo a temática e os procedimentos necessários para doação de dentes aos bancos.
Introdução: A doença de Alzheimer (DA) é caracterizada por uma afecção neurodegenerativa progressiva e irreversível, que a priori gera perda da memória recente e posteriormente, a memória geral, incluindo vários distúrbios cognitivos, o que afeta diretamente a convivência do indivíduo. Para facilitar sua compreensão diagnóstica e o tratamento, é dividida em três estágios: inicial, intermediário e avançado. Objetivo: Nesse contexto, o objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar uma revisão integrativa de literatura sobre a odontologia e a doença de Alzheimer com ênfase no manejo e tratamento odontológico em consultório. Método: Para isso, o método utilizado foi o qualitativo, sendo realizada uma revisão integrativa de literatura a partir de pesquisas bibliográficas nas bases de dados: SCiELO (Scientific Online Library), Google Acadêmico, PUBMED (National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health dos EUA) e o Guia de atenção à saúde bucal da pessoa com deficiência (Ministério da Saúde), a partir de trabalhos publicados entre 2006 e 2020. Resultados e discussão: A partir desse levantamento, fica evidente a importância de o cirurgião-dentista ter um conhecimento voltado para a DA, sendo necessário a aplicação de técnicas e manejos adequados para a condução do tratamento odontológico, tornando o atendimento satisfatório e garantindo a saúde bucal e a qualidade de vida do paciente. Conclusão: Portanto, embora haja estudos e protocolos voltados ao tratamento odontológico e a doença de Alzheimer (DA), se faz necessário um protocolo mais robusto e objetivo que oriente o profissional de odontologia para o manejo adequado do paciente com a DA, permitindo assim uma maior uniformidade e qualidade nesse atendimento.
