A new type of flap, the subcutaneously bipedicled island flap, is described. It has several advantages over the common, single-pedicled sliding flap, and allows better reconstruction of contour by adjacent tissue in various anatomic areas. Preferred sites are discussed and the serial methodology of construction of this type of flap is illustrated.
