Resumen. Los enigmas ofrecidos a la Casa del Placer de sor Juana Inés de la Cruz son una obra poco recurrida de nuestra Décima Musa, su trayecto dentro del sorjuanismo a partir de su hallazgo en 1968 por Enrique Martínez López en Lisboa nos muestra que su misterio no está solo en su género, sino también en el contexto que los forja; tanto en el ámbito espacio-temporal, como en las personas relacionadas con su factura. La publicación de la edición en 1994 por Antonio Alatorre marca un antes y un después en la exégesis de la generación de estas redondillas, perspectiva conjetural ha sido repetida a lo largo de los años sin una mayor indagación. Este estudio propone una perspectiva distinta de la génesis del texto, aportando nuevos enfoques basados en información de fuentes primarias y un análisis de los textos previos de los enigmas.
Ana de Zayas, criolla, primeramente fabricante de redes y casada, y luego separada por autorización de Manuel Fernández de Santa Cruz, autoproclamada en sus escritos como «esposa de Cristo» sin la toma de ningún velo y desde su posición de seglar, estuvo protegida por el obispo Fernández de Santa Cruz aunque fue acusada a sus 45 años ante el Santo Oficio por alumbradismo vehemente en 1694. Sin embargo, su proceso inquisitorial no fue concluido gracias a la intervención del mismo personaje, y quedó con causa sobreseída por razones no conocidas. Se explicará su particular pensamiento alumbrado a la luz de la documentación del proceso inquisitorial y su cercana relación con el obispo de Puebla.
