ChemInform Abstract The title ligand (II) forms homobinuclear complexes (IVa) and (IVb) and a heterobinuclear complex (IVc) which is isolated in a mixture and separated using an ion-exchange column. Whereas the visible spectra are very similar to those of the mononuclear complexes with cyclam, the electrochemical studies of (IVc) indicate a weak interaction between the metal ions coordinated by (II), as shown by a shift of the second oxidation potential M2+ → M3+ to more positive values.
The biscyclam (II), obtained by reduction of the parent bisdioxocyclam (I), reacts successively with the metal nitrates to yield a 2:1 :l‐mixture of the complexes (IIIa)‐(IIIc), which were separated by ion‐exchange chromatography (no yields given).
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
