Antecedentes. Estudios preliminares relacionados con el patriarcado, la hegemonía, las masculinidades alternativas y los contextos socializadores de representaciones acerca de lo masculino fortalecen el propósito de la revisión teórica planteada. Objetivo. Analizar la construcción de la masculinidad en relación con la socialización de los diferentes agentes educadores. Métodos. Se ha llevado a cabo una revisión sistemática de 50 documentos que abordan el tema “Masculinidad”. Resultados. Se presentan la construcción de la masculinidad de acuerdo a la existencia de modelos tradicionales o nuevos, así mismo de los espacios relacionales que socializan y reproducen el deber ser de hombres y mujeres, en esencia la familia, la escuela/colegio y la universidad. Conclusión. Se infiere que la masculinidad y su construcción se conceptualiza desde la hegemonía y la alternatividad, siendo los agentes educadores transmisores culturales de lo que debe significar la masculinidad.
