O presente trabalho objetiva identificar como a Educação em Direitos Humanos (EDH) se insere no Projeto Político Pedagógico Institucional (PPPI) do Colégio Pedro II, instituição de ensino federal localizada no estado do Rio de Janeiro. A metodologia foi organizada em duas etapas. A primeira consistiu em uma análise bibliográfica e documental de políticas públicas educacionais acerca do tema. A segunda etapa se dedicou ao estudo do PPPI e suas interfaces com os direitos humanos. Concluiu-se que a EDH está amplamente presente no documento em questão. Observou-se que os Fundamentos Teórico-Metodológicos e os Marcos Legais mencionam a EDH. Os direitos humanos também aparecem nas descrições de dois laboratórios e de um núcleo de pesquisa e nos programas das disciplinas de Sociologia, Filosofia e Língua Portuguesa e Literatura. Por fim, constatou-se a presença dos direitos humanos em uma disciplina da Pós-graduação em Ensino de História e na organização de atividades extensionistas.
O surgimento da Geografia Escolar brasileira durante o século XIX antecede em muito o surgimento da Geografia acadêmica no Brasil. Alguns autores buscaram contribuir ao tema, construindo periodizações a fim de demonstrar as transformações ocorridas no ensino de Geografia no Brasil. No entanto, essas periodizações não dialogam entre si e possuem diferentes perspectivas. O objetivo principal desse artigo é construir uma possibilidade de periodização que leve em consideração características intrínsecas ao processo de ensino. A partir do estabelecimento de critérios que vinculam características das principais concepções didáticas e objetivos do ensino de Geografia na Escola, se assinala a existência de quatro períodos na historiografia da Geografia Escolar brasileira.
