Devido à presença de déficits motores e sensoriais, como dificuldades na coordenação motora global e defensividade tátil de pessoas com o Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA), o aprendizado musical no instrumento violoncelo pode tornar-se complexo. Isso ocorre visto que são exigidas a manutenção de posições e a execução de movimentações específicas para o desenvolvimento do instrumentista. Portanto, o objetivo dos pesquisadores do Grupo de Pesquisa Transtornos do Desenvolvimento e Dificuldades de Aprendizagem (GP-TDDA) foi criar um acessório facilitador para fixar os dedos no arco de violoncelo, visando garantir o melhor posicionamento, estabilização e/ou função do aluno. Sabendo das dificuldades que pessoas com TEA encontram diante do aprendizado musical, a coordenação do GP-TDDA justifica o desenvolvimento de um acessório voltado ao aprendizado do violoncelo, por acreditar que ações de inclusão educacional com base na Lei Brasileira de Inclusão da Pessoa com Deficiência nº 13.146/2015 precisam ter um viés de atendimento a estudantes com deficiências e seus familiares, oferecendo educação de qualidade na área da Arte Música. A execução deste projeto também se justificou pelo fato de poder contribuir com a qualificação de estudantes de iniciação científica em nível de ensino médio interessados no tema Tecnologia Assistiva, Educação Inclusiva e Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo, assim como Pessoas Neurotípicas. O acessório facilitador foi idealizado no Laboratório Experimental de Educação Musical do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Artes (LEEM/PPGARTES) da Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA) e do Laboratório de Tecnologia Assistiva (LABTA) da Universidade do Estado do Pará (UEPA), que aproximou os alunos de Graduação e Pós-graduação em Música, Terapia Ocupacional e Psicologia da UFPA e da UEPA. O dispositivo criado tem custos baixos; é leve, pesando aproximadamente 9 gramas; tem desenho simplificado e é de fácil manuseio e uso. Possui potencial para implementação em aulas de iniciação musical voltada ao aprendizado do instrumento violoncelo, podendo ser um recurso que facilitará o processo da aprendizagem musical de pessoas com o Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo.
Nos últimos anos, a música tem sido estudada enquanto importante recurso terapêutico que auxilia no tratamento de diversas patologias e distúrbios neurológicos e neuropsiquiátricos, dentre os quais encontra-se o Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo (TEA). Com o presente estudo, busca-se investigar a utilização da música como intervenção neuropsicológica no tratamento do transtorno do espectro do autismo. Realizou-se levantamento bibliográfico em referencial teórico sobre o autismo, música e neurociência, educação musical e musicoterapia e observou-se que estímulos musicais podem repercutir positivamente no desenvolvimento de pacientes com distúrbios neuropsicomotores e neuropsiquiátricos, sendo necessário expandir as investigações em algumas áreas para uma compreensão mais ampla e pormenorizada.
