Our hope is that each participant in the workshop will complete that day (or shortly after) a post that we can run at The Monkey Cage (or can offer to colleagues at similar outlets), thereby increasing the number of African contributors and serving as a model for other African scholars at their institutions and across the continent. (While TMC is a political science blog, we have leeway to publish work across the social sciences and often include work by our colleagues in anthropology and African Studies). The ability to conduct this workshop in Dakar matches the African Studies Association and American Anthropological Association goals of increasing engagement by African scholars as it will our own.
