The goal of this work is to present a new method for image segmentation using mathematical morphology. The approach used is based on the watershed transformation. In order to avoid an oversegmentation, we propose to adapt the topological gradient method. The watershed transformation combined with a fast algorithm based on the topological gradient approach gives good results. The numerical tests obtained illustrate the efficiency of our approach for image segmentation.
Abstract. The aim of this article is to propose a new method for the grey-level image classification problem. We first present the classical variational approach without and with a regularization term in order to smooth the contours of the classified image. Then we present the general topological asymptotic analysis, and we finally introduce its application to the grey-level image classification problem.
The goal of this note is to generalize the topological gradient method, applied to restoration and classification problems for grey-level images, to color images. We illustrate our approach with numerical tests.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
