Objetivo: Compreender o nível de conhecimento de gestantes em relação às práticas de aleitamento materno exclusivo em Unidades Básicas de Saúde na cidade de Formosa/Goiás. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualiquantitativa, que descreve o conhecimento de gestantes sobre as práticas de aleitamento materno exclusivo. O estudo contou com uma amostra de 50 gestantes, sendo estas entrevistadas no dia de consulta pré-natal. Foi aplicado um questionário estruturado, validado, sobre conhecimentos e práticas em aleitamento materno exclusivo. Utilizou-se o pacote de recursos e técnicas estatísticas do programa Microsoft Excel 2010 para a análise dos dados, a frequência e proporção, apresentando-os por meio de figuras. A pesquisa foi autorizada pelo Comitê de Ética do Centro Universitário do Distrito Federal, sob o número 66323617.0.0000.5650, Plataforma Brasil. Resultados: Grande parte das gestantes relatou já ter recebido informações referentes ao Aleitamento Materno Exclusivo, contudo, em alguns momentos as respostas eram conflituosas, trazendo a impressão de que ainda era preciso abordar pontos cruciais sobre o tema. Conclusão: Apesar de demonstrarem algum conhecimento sobre o Aleitamento Materno Exclusivo, algumas gestantes apresentaram informações desencontradas ou confusas sobre o tempo de duração ou o que era o Aleitamento Exclusivo. Acredita-se ser necessária a capacitação dos profissionais de saúde nesse tema, principalmente aos Enfermeiros. É sugerido que haja incentivo dos gestores municipais, que estes estejam engajados em dar o apoio que as Unidades Básicas de Saúde necessitam, formando equipe com maior interesse na saúde materno-infantil e em como melhorar a abordagem desses conteúdos para as gestantes assistidas.Descritores: Aleitamento materno.
