This study aims to describe the ability of Indonesian vocational school teachers in planning accounting lessons and the problems they face. The research subjects were learning tools (curriculum, syllabus, lesson plans, teaching materials, learning media, evaluation instruments, and student workbooks). Data were obtained from schools and teachers, documents on learning tools, organizers and managers of educational units. Data were collected through interviews, documentation and observation techniques. The data analysis technique was carried out in a descriptive-qualitative manner. The results showed that (1) the ability of Indonesian Vocational School teachers in preparing accounting lesson plan (analyzing material, determining media, determining teaching models and methods, determining learning steps/scenarios, analyzing evaluation instruments) was not maximized, even though the quantity of existence was in accordance with the provisions of the national standards agency, but the quality only reached an average of 31.66%; (2) the basic problem faced by Indonesian Vocational School teachers in preparing accounting lesson plans is the teacher makes a lesson plan at once per semester or per year. This shows the teacher's lack of seriousness in preparing lesson plans, where (a) the lesson plans compiled are only limited to administrative needs, (b) the preparation of subject matter has not been analyzed optimally, (c) learning media have not been designed properly, (d) synchronization between models and learning methods are not yet visible, (e) learning steps and scenarios made are not in syncronization with learning models, methods and media, (f) limitations in determining evaluation tools and learning follow-up.
The research objective was to examine the effect of job satisfaction on the performance of elementary school teachers in Kendari City, Indonesia. There were 125 elementary school teachers who participated in this study. Data were collected using five-choice Likert scale model questionnaires, namely: the teacher job satisfaction scale r=0.91 and the teacher performance scale r=0.94. The data was analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) through analysis of moment structures (AMOS) software. The results showed that there was a significant positive effect of job satisfaction on the performance of elementary school teachers. The study's findings suggest that it is critical for elementary school administrators and education administrators in local governments to ensure teacher job satisfaction in order to improve their performance.
This study investigated the motivation and motivational orientations along with the most prominent problems the students of non-English majors (SNEM) encounter in learning oral English skills (OES). To this end, a mixed method design was applied in this study by using a questionnaire to elicit quantitative data and a stimulated recall to generate qualitative data. The questionnaire was administered to 942 students, among whom 128 participated in a stimulated recall. This study took place at Universitas Dayanu Ikhsanuddin, Indonesia, during the academic year 2020/2021. The results of the questionnaire were analyzed quantitatively using the Microsoft Excel Program, and the participants' responses to stimulated recall were qualitatively analyzed by hand as prescribed by some experts. The findings revealed that SNEM are interested in learning OES, and their motivational orientation is employment. The students believe that OES: (1) will help them to get a good job; ( 2) is important for their future job; and ( 3) is beneficial for their future career. The three most significant issues that the SNEM face while learning OES are (1) insufficient class time, (2) a lack of opportunities to use English, and (3) a large class size. The findings are discussed, and some implications are provided.
The problem statements of this research were: (1) what kind of teachers’problems in teaching English at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Baubau; and (2) how do teachers overcome the problems in teaching English at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Baubau. The purpose of the research were: (1) to reveal the kind of teachers problems in teaching English at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Baubau; and (2) to find out the solutions the teachers overcome the problems in teaching English at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Baubau. This research was a qualitative research by applying a qualitative description method. The subjects of this research were ten students of the seventh grade and a teacher of SMP Negeri 1 Baubau. The instruments used were observation, interview, and document study. The technique of data analysis used were data collection, data reduction, data presentation (display data), and conclusion. Based on findings in this research, the result showed that the seventh grade English teacher faced problems when teaching English, they are lack of motivation, lack of vocabulary, lack of time allocation and lack of facility. Based on the problems, teachers took solutions to overcome these problems by creating a pleasant atmosphere, being fun teacher, using song, drama, vocabulary game and code switching, simplifying materials, increasing time allocation, as well as providing facilities in school.
The objective of the research was to examine the effect of locus of control and self-esteem on students' ethical behavior. The research sample consists of 480 students of the Faculty of Teaching and Education, Universitas Halu Oleo Indonesia during academic-year 2022. Data was collected using five-choice Likert scale model questionnaires, ethical behavior scale rα= 0.81, locus of control scale rα=0.86, and self-esteem scale rα =0.86. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) through Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) software. The results showed that there was a significant positive effect of locus of control and self-esteem on students' ethical behavior either partially or simultaneously. This means, the better the students' locus of control and self-esteem, the better their ethical behavior will be.
