The problem of the susceptance of a circular obstacle in a circular waveguide with an incident TB0 1 mode is solved by a variational method. Theoretical expressions are obtained which are in good agreement with experimental results. Curves of normalized suseeptance as a function of relative aperture, guide wavelength, and tree-space wavelength are included.
