A. 5 RESUMO -Este estudo foi conduzido para avaliar a seletividade de herbicidas aplicados em pós-emergência sobre plantas de Panicum maximum, cultivares Tanzânia e Mombaça, e os seus efe itos na qualidade das sementes. Os tra tamentos testados (em g ha -1 ) foram: diclofopmethyl (284), ametryne (1.250), propanil (3.600), chlorimuron-ethyl (15), nicosulfuron (50), bentazon (720) e atrazine (3.000), além de uma testemunha sem aplicação de herbicidas. Foram instalados dois experimentos a campo, um para cada cultivar, no delineamento em blocos casualiza do s com qu atro repe tições, e um em labo ratório, no deline amen to inteiramente casualizado, com 16 repetições. O nicosulfuron foi o herbicida que mais causou injúrias visuais e redução de massa seca de plantas em ambos os cultivares. No cultivar Mombaça, todos os herbicidas reduziram a produção de sementes, mas não afetaram a germinação. Para o cultivar Tanzânia, todos os herbicidas foram seletivos, não afetando a produção e a qualidade fisiológica. Palavras-chave:Panicum maximum, pastagem, fitotoxicidade, germinação, vigor. RESUMO -O surgimento de novos genótipos de plantas daninhas aquáticas pertencentes ao gênero Egeria motivou a realização deste estudo, o qual teve como objetivo avaliar o comportamento de diferentes acessos das espécies de E. densa e E. najas em relação ao tratamento com os herbicidas diquat e fluridone. Foram avaliados acessos de diferentes biótipos de E. densa provindos dos reservatórios de Jupiá, Nova Avanhandava, Promissão e Salto Grand e e de E. najas oriundos de Jupiá , Três Irmãos, Ilha Solteira e Ibitinga. O delineamento experimental adotado foi o inteiramente casualizado com cinco repetições. Os tratamentos e concentrações utilizados no estudo com E. densa e E. najas foram: diquat (Reward 240 g L -1 ) a 0,5 e 1,0 mg L -1 com reaplicação aos 12 dias após a primeira aplicação, e a concentração de fluridone mantida entre 3 e 20 mg L -1 , além de uma testemunha sem aplicação de herbicidas. As duas espécies foram controladas de forma eficiente pelo herbicida diquat com uma ou duas aplicações, sendo ambas as concentrações eficientes, porém observaram -se respostas diferenciadas dos acessos estud ados às concentra ções do herbicida. Para o herbicida fluridone, as espécies e acessos estuda dos comportaram-se também de forma diferenciada em relação à ação do herbicida, ocorrendo acessos desde mediana a altamente suscetíveis em ambas as espécies.Palavras-chave: planta aquática, planta daninha, biótipo, Hydrocaritaceae, controle químico.
