ChemInform Abstract The preparation of the chloromethyl alkyl sulfides (IV) from paraformaldehyde (I), trimethylchlorosilane (II), and the alkanethiols (III) is optimized.
The 35Cl NQR spectra of organyl(chloroalkyl) sulfides ClCH2S(CH2)nCH3, n = 0-11, Cl(CH2)mSR, m = 1 - 3 and alkyl(chloromethyl selenides ClCH2SeR (R = C2H5 , C3H7 ) have been obtained. In going from m = 1 to m = 2, the electron density on the CI atom in the series Cl(CH2)mYR increases when Y = S and decreases when Y = O.
113ChemInform Abstract The reaction between divinyl sulfoxide (I) and ethyl acetoacetate (IIa) or diethyl malonate (IIb) affords a mixture of the hitherto unknown acyclic sulfoxides (III)-(V) and the cyclic sulfoxides (VI). The yields of each of the components vary depending on the reaction conditions. Thermolysis of (VI) affords the functionalized dienes (VII). The compounds (III)-(VII) may be employed as starting materials for a variety of syntheses.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
